Director, Business Development and Brand Partnerships

MarketPro has partnered with a nonprofit organization that aims to record, preserve, and share the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. Together, we are searching for their next Director of Business Development and Brand Partnerships to add to the dynamic team. Their mission is to help people believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all one story at a time.

How do they accomplish this? By sharing select stories publicly through podcasts, NPR broadcasts, animated shorts, digital platforms, and best-selling books. These powerful human stories reflect the vast range of American experiences, wisdom and values; engender empathy and connection; and remind us how much more we have in common than what divides us.

The Role

As the Director of Business Development and Brand Partnerships, you will be at the forefront of expanding and enhancing the organization’s impact and reach at a time when the brand is needed more than ever. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth through innovative business development and marketing strategies.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Brand Studios & Strategic Partnerships, you will lead a team responsible for sponsorship, business development, and marketing + distribution. Your primary objective will be to consistently meet or surpass an annual revenue target of $7 million-plus, innovatively and proactively exploring new market opportunities and sponsorship offerings. This role requires an individual with a profound sense of initiative, a knack for identifying and seizing market opportunities, and the ability to think creatively about partnership models.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in creative brand sales, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and a track record of exceeding revenue targets. Exceptional communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, and a driven, goal-oriented mindset are essential. What You’ll Do

Required:

    • Revenue Strategy & Function Building (30%)✔️ As a revenue leader, you are responsible for planning, executing, and evolving a strategy that includes leveraging our Unique Value Proposition, and a suite of award-winning services as a Storytelling Agency.
      ✔️ You will oversee, drive, and execute strategies including partnership, content and marketing, referral, and social media in collaboration with other leads within the team to drive sales growth.
      ✔️ You will develop efficient systems and sales processes, to maximize profitability.
      ✔️ Meet or exceed quarterly revenue goals, and provide reports on business development, sales leads, and brand partnerships/corporate sponsorship activity to senior management
    • Brand Partnerships & Sponsorship (30%)✔️ Source new brand partners for engagement campaigns and initiatives
      ✔️ Collaborate with leadership to manage brand’s relationship with National Public Media (the advertising/sales arm of NPR) and NPR, as well as growing additional media partnerships, and sourcing sponsors for broadcast and podcast opportunities
    • Sales & Business Development (25%)
      ✔️ You will ensure a pipeline of quality leads and increase the conversion rates of qualified leads to partnerships
      ✔️ Act in a consultative capacity to assess client interests and goals, and identify and communicate how a brand partnership can support these goals
      ✔️ Build productive working relationships with leaders at current and prospective donor corporations and sponsors

 

  • Marketing (15%)
    ✔️ Develop dynamic, creative, and high-quality materials that speak to the value and purpose of products, sponsorship, and brand partnership opportunities
    ✔️ Ensure proposals are crafted that meet each potential funder’s unique interests and goals
    ✔️ Oversee the implementation of a robust marketing plan in collaboration with Chief Marketing Officer

About You

  • You thrive in an innovative, fast-paced environment, and have experience growing revenues exponentially each year.
  • You have at least 8 years of selling, and leading teams to sell, with at least 2+ years at a creative services agency or similar.
  • You have 2-3 years of experience supervising and leading a team.
  • Strong negotiation skills and an ability to persuade at all levels of an agency or client selling a conceptual or experiential product.
  • You have worked in a client-facing role and managed nuanced client expectations with ease.
  • You are an exceptional active listener and creative thinker; you have a proven record of using these skills to identify brand needs and present innovative solutions that uplift organizations while furthering the brand’s mission and values.
  • You are entrepreneurial, detail-oriented yet versatile, analytical, and you excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • You are an exceptional communicator with an ability to present complex information, verbally and in writing.
  • You’ve developed compelling proposal decks.
  • You have strong collaborative and teamwork skills, and the ability to organize, problem-solve, and project manage across multiple initiatives.
  • Cultural competence/humility with an ability to thrive in a diverse work environment.

Preferred:

  • Has additional experience in branding across industries
  • Has prior experience building external partnerships and bringing in new business
  • Has experience utilizing CRM software such as or similar to Salesforce and HubSpot

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel requirement: 20% (Ability to travel nationally to meetings, events, and/or public speaking opportunities as need
