The National Director, Digital Strategy will be responsible for creating a common vision and strategy for digital transformation across this national non-profit inclusive of external digital marketing, with a specific emphasis on fundraising, as well as internal (Club-facing) platforms. This vision will be completely consumer-driven and designed to flex based on shifting behavioral trends, new technology advancements, and market conditions. This role requires a strong leader, a visionary thinker, and an outstanding communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives. They will need to approach with a problem-solving mentality and an ability to drive measurable impact. This will require a healthy balance of innovative thinking and business pragmatism, to ensure we continue to challenge the status quo while maximizing our return on investment. This position reports to the Vice President, Marketing & Operations.

DIGITAL MARKETING STRATEGY:

  • Lead the organization in developing an integrated digital marketing strategy to fundraise, cultivate supporter relationships and build the brand with external audiences
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to unify under one voice and shared prioritization of messaging to achieve a clear, concise omnichannel strategy
  • Partner closely with the resource development team on all online fundraising efforts and embrace annual goals as key performance indicators for the digital strategy and team
  • Establish and monitor key benchmarks – web traffic, mobile visits, social media activity, fundraising conversions, email metrics, etc. to improve our performance so that we become a non-profit leader
  • Develop ideas and platforms to help tell our story through digital channels and gain traction behind the powerful stories that and alumni can share to demonstrate the positive impact of Clubs
  • Lead our digital research efforts to understand our target audience and their motivations
  • Oversee digital media buys, including pro-bono resources (SEM, SEO, blog outreach, display, retargeting, social, etc.), so that our message is top of mind with our target customers
  • Lead efforts to scale digital strategy and best practices across the federated model, from national campaigns on behalf of the national organization to locally-led chapters nationwide
  • Stay abreast of trends in the digital and non-profit space, as well as cultural and social trends, to ensure leverages best practices
  • Represent the brand by attending continuing education courses, seminars, professional meetings/ groups, technology exhibits and shows, and pursuing speaking opportunities where appropriate

DIGITAL CONTENT & DESIGN:

  • Partner with content and creative teams to develop a digital content strategy and oversee the creation and performance of digital content on all channels
  • Manage the user experience (UX) for multiple projects from strategy to wireframe to deployment
  • Communicate to senior executives overall UX strategy and deliverables
  • Understand target users’ needs, motivations, and behaviors as it relates to a specific project or area
  • Set standards for process and quality of work; contribute to team discussions including thought leadership
  • Partner with the creative team to develop a vision and strategy that ensures the experience is on-brand, meet stakeholder needs and business goals

PLATFORM ENABLEMENT:

  • Manage internal and external agency resources to upgrade and enhance our digital platforms
  • Partner closely with IT on tools and technology required to stay ahead of the ever-evolving digital landscape
  • Lead ongoing education of digital trends so that the organization stays relevant
  • Lead efforts to ensure locally-led programs have the digital tools they need to effectively reach their target audiences in local markets

LEADERSHIP:

  • Train and mentor direct reports (team of 5) and model a commitment to learning and improvement
  • Serve as a leader and advocate to elevate the role of digital marketing, representing best-in-class digital strategy with internal and external stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Serve as a member of the marketing leadership team, providing digital strategy and expertise that advances the annual marketing plan and meets organizational goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6+ years digital marketing experience in national non-profit, consumer products environment
  • 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including leading a team-focused digital strategy that influences senior management
  • Experience with digital experience and automation platforms including Sitecore, Sharepoint, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus

SKILLS:

  • Strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management
  • Executive presence; experience with and acumen for senior-level client interface and relationships. Capable of establishing immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization; ability to work across a range of interpersonal styles
