Marketing Manager Contract – Reston, VA

MarketPro, the leading marketing executive search firm has partnered with one of the largest technical societies dedicated to the global aerospace profession. As a leading Aerospace Publisher, they serve a diverse community of aerospace professionals and organizations. Due to significant growth, we are in search of the next Marketing Manager to elevate our marketing and overall brand to the next level.


  • Develop and execute internal and external marketing strategies that leverage market research and historical data to support the success of the society
  • Manage and implement annual marketing plans for organizational programs, events/forums, public policy, and awards and recognition
  • Full accountability for the development, proofing, and fulfillment processes of collateral with graphic design, print production, and project managers
  • Develop regular analytics reports, and use data to improve the success of assigned projects


  • Develop and execute marketing plans, promotion schedules, and program budgets
  • Conduct competitive research that informs the positioning of company products and programs
  • Work closely with team members and content providers to promote the organization’s brand and improve the integration of the organization’s marketing and communications efforts across assigned projects
  • Craft compelling and grammatically accurate promotional copy
  • Ensure Institute messaging and branding are used consistently in marketing messaging
  • Create queries and lists through the Institute’s association management system

Position Dimensions:

  • Produce all work consistent with company branding and style guide
  • Ensure projects achieve the desired results and are completed in a timely manner and within budget
  • Work with multiple cross-functional teams (i.e. Design, Communications, IT, etc.) to assist with project and budget management
  • Minimal travel required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in marketing events, products, and/or programs
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency with project management, marketing implementation, market research, and promotional copywriting
  • Ability to quickly learn new software, systems, and processes
  • Experience with email marketing systems (Informz experience a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Have a naturally positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to be self-reliant

Additional Skills:

  • Google Tag Manager, Analytics, AdWords, and Content Management Systems (CMS) experience preferred
  • Previous association or non-for-profit experience is a plus
  • Previous experience with an association management system or CRM system (NETForum experience a plus)
  • Good listener with the ability to accept and apply constructive feedback
