MarketPro is conducting a retail marketing executive search with one of the largest retail chains in the Southeast to hire their new Executive Director of Marketing. Based in Atlanta, GA this brand has over 600 locations and is one of the largest private companies in the US.

The Executive Director of Marketing will work directly with the Chief Marketing Officer in defining and managing the strategic vision and goals for marketing. This individual will guide the work of the marketing, communications, partnerships, creative and marketing technology teams on all departmental initiatives that drive guests to our stores through branding, promotions, programs, and public relations as well as support the overall business objectives of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Identifies, develops, or evaluates marketing strategy, based on knowledge of organizational objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors
  • Serves as liaison for cross-functional teams
  • Develops, implements, and monitors annual marketing plan and budget
  • Champions messaging and branding reflective of our target consumer and value proposition
  • Builds, manage, and coaches a high-performing marketing team
  • Drives the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns that meet business objectives
  • Directs and supports market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data
  • Works closely with the merchandising and operations teams to align sales and marketing strategies
  • Partners with architecture and design to establish consistent brand experience across all consumer touchpoints
  • Evaluates competitors’ strategies and positioning and devises counter-strategies
  • Establishes and maintains strong vendor network for marketing products and services
  • Negotiates contracts for various products/services
  • Champions internal and external marketing technology as it meets the needs of our guests and maximizes efficiencies for our internal teams
  • Identifies KPIs and leverages data to maximize the value creation of marketing programs and communicate performance to senior leadership
  • Builds long term relationships with employees, leadership, peers, vendors, and agency partners
  • Leverages strong understanding of the consumer to identify product opportunities for testing
  • Drives a culture of lean innovation enabling company to test and learn quickly
  • Works effectively with culinary R&D, food service, and marketing teams to maximize efficient use of resources, ideas, and execution
  • Ensures that all USDA/FDA/HAACP and food safety standards are incorporated into product manufacturing as well as the identification of all necessary on-site food safety product preparation procedures for operations teams
  • Contributes to the success of company’s future in food by identifying and leading team(s) in developing products that can be executed consistently and profitably among all stores
  • Partners with food service team to ensure roll out strategy and successful implementation of products once they have been successfully tested

Work Experience/ Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 10+ years of professional experience in Marketing required (brand marketing, communications, advertising and product marketing)
  • Strong knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or This includes marketing strategy and tactics.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate results to make decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep a level head and easily manage and communicate change
  • Works well with diverse group of individuals
  • Strong ability to interpret guest behavior and make consumer-led decisions
  • Proven ability to measure small and large scale marketing campaigns
